Managing director Oliver Yeo said Japan is the world’s fifth largest biomass market and its government has shifted from fossil dependency to renewable energy, aiming to account for 22-24 per cent of its electricity mix by 2030.
Bio Eneco plans to expand its biomass hub near Northport, Port Klang, in order to facilitate its global expansion with a focus on Japan which has a projected total biomass demand of 23 million tonnes in 2025, nearly triple the current rate.
